Porto Flavia

A place that dominates the Iglesiente coast

It was a real revolution, built between 1922 and 1924, more than a mine, a port suspended halfway up a rock face, from which a very long tunnel of about 600 meters starts, dug into the rock by the miners, emerges halfway up a cliff that offers a breathtaking view of the suggestive Pan di Zucchero stack, a 132 meter natural monument shaped by time. A daring work suspended between sky and sea, which allowed the direct loading of minerals, destined for Northern European foundries, onto ships, drastically reducing transport times and costs.
